Energy is such a precious commodity. And although investment in and availability of renewable fuel sources is increasing, the UK remains largely reliant on the non-renewables: gas, coal, nuclear fuel and oil – in that order.
We use energy relentlessly to power our homes, cars and offices. Indeed, we barely give it a thought… until there’s a power cut. During this strange, candle-filled darkness we are reminded of our utter dependence on energy in all its forms.
While renewable energy sources are growing, it is imperative that we save as much of the non-renewables as we can. Particularly now they are so expensive. Conducting a home energy check can save us up to £250 a year according to the Energy Saving Trust.
Here’s what you can do to save vital energy and those pennies:
Heating
Update your boiler: boilers account for around 60% of our energy bills, so replacing the old boiler with an A-rated high-efficiency condensing one is a sensible option. This is because old style boilers were prone to losing a large amount of heat in the form of gases up the flue (pipes/chimney) while condensing boilers re-use these gases more effectively.
Increasing use of energy has led to depletion of energy resources. Conscious efforts have been put in to reduce irresponsible consumption of energy. As a result of which a lot of energy saving services are cropping up. They help in saving home energy, business energy, U.K energy etc. Individual efforts are equally important to save energy; hence one can use a comparison site to find the right supplier for oneself. They are too dim and don’t put out enough light compared to regular light bulbs. I’d recommend getting a corn-style LED light bulb with more wattage, LED’s and 360-degree light output. You’ll be glad you did and not wasted your money on such a dim light, unless you just need “a light” that doesn’t need to be that bright, like a night light, etc. Next video I’ll review and compare a corn-style 108-LED 7 watt (6000K) cool white light bulb that is being shipped to me at the moment.
